Moorlands Human Capital was founded in 2011 and has rapidly grown to be a leading provider of executive talent solutions.
Founded by Paul Battye, Robert Branagh and Steve Delo, the business was created to provide quality solutions and straight forward advice to organisations in a transparent manner.
The three founders all felt passionately that the world of executive talent consultancy had been opaque for far too long, and that an advisor was needed to bring the industry into the 21st century.
We have invested heavily in technology; investment that has allowed our consultants to work from anywhere in the world, whilst giving our clients access to the data they need to make their decisions quickly and efficiently.
By operating across five business lines with specialist consultants with deep industry knowledge, we are able to provide our clients with holistic executive talent advice.
Paul Battye is Founding Chief Executive of Moorlands Human Capital. Paul specialises in senior executive and non-executive appointments and has a wealth of experience advising organisations from start-ups through to FTSE 100 businesses on how to attract, retain and develop the best executive, non-executive and senior managers. His projects include team and individual capability evaluations, leadership and succession mandates and building teams across Europe and the UK. Paul has worked with some of the world’s largest institutional investors in helping them find, attract and retain the best talent. Paul splits his time between our London & Manchester offices.
Robert Branagh is a Non-Executive Director of Moorlands Human Capital. Robert is an experienced general manager who has set up, managed and grown several businesses over the last 25 years. With a wealth of senior management experience in audit, consultancy, pensions administration, operational management, sales and marketing, he is a NED to several SME’s and Chairman at two of the largest UK pension schemes. Robert is a sought-after speaker and contributor to the financial press. Primarily based in the South East of England, Robert is the current President of the Pensions Management Institute.
Steve Delo is a Non-Executive Director of Moorlands Human Capital. A prominent finance sector entrepreneur, Steve has built successful businesses across asset management, consulting and pensions. As current Chief Executive of leading independent trustee firm, PAN Governance, he is chair of trustees for several prominent UK pension funds. He has been named one of the 50 most influential people working in pensions today. Steve is widely quoted in the finance press and, in his career, has won three major awards – Business Presenter of the Year, Pensions Personality of the Year and Independent Trustee of the Year.
Vince Linnane is Chairman of Moorlands Human Capital. Previously he was Chief Executive of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) for a decade between 2006 and 2016. He worked at PMI from 1984 and previous posts included Head of Product Development and Head of Communications and Events. Vince has a BA (Hons) from Newcastle University in English and History. Recent achievements included winning the 2016 “Professional Pensions” Lifetime Achievement Award and the “Pensions Age” Pensions Personality of the Year Award. Vince was included in the most 50 influential people in UK pensions by “Pensions Insight” for 2012-15.

Putting clients first is at the very core of our business model.
As a business it’s easy to say that you prioritise clients but not so easy to achieve.
One of the biggest frustrations we heard from potential clients before establishing the business was that most consultants in the industry pay lip service to client satisfaction. They felt that relationships with consultants were transactional rather than transformational; moreover they wanted to work with consultants who not only get results but also understand their business. They also felt that consultants were too opaque and didn’t demonstrate transparency.
We keep clients informed at all stages of the search process.
Traditionally, consultants come to clients with a short list of candidates after 8 to 12 weeks of work, but offer little transparency as to how they got to that shortlist.
We keep you informed at every step in the process. Clients get 24/7 access to a secure SSL encrypted Client Portal which allows them to see the data they need to make informed decisions. As soon as a consultant makes a change to an assignment, it is available for the client to see via the Client Portal. This level of transparency allows us to have an on-going dialogue with clients and has reduced the time needed to get to shortlist from 8 to 12 weeks to just 4 to 6 weeks.

Clients also told us that they didn’t like the inevitability of search, with the same names coming up time and again.
One HR Director told us that search shortlists are typically “pale, male and stale”. We passionately believe that it is our role to bring new ideas to the board room. Our searches are underpinned by qualitative Executive Research and our Search Process, and it is our aim to find individuals who meet the criteria of the role from a wide diversity of backgrounds.
Ensuring this is possible isn’t just about search. Sometimes no matter how talented an individual is they may not have enough attributes or experience, which is why we offer Coaching services as part of our Leadership Consulting Services.

It is our belief that you should never ask anybody to do something you aren’t prepared to do yourself. Therefore, when you engage with us as a business, you will be assigned a lead consultant who will not only advise and guide you through your project, but also manage it. There will always be a second consultant assigned to support you and they will be supported by our team of experts. Together they will ensure you get all the service and support you need to achieve a successful project.
